Smashing it throughout the year – celebrating the achievements of our care experienced young people

August 5, 2026

On 29 July, Slough Children First held its annual celebration day to celebrate the amazing achievements of our care experienced children and young people over the past year.

Over 225 people attended, and children and young people were recognised for their personal/academic achievements through our Smashing it Awards.

The awards were hosted by Debbie Jones, Director of Children’s Services and Chief Executive of Slough Children First, Rashida Baig, Slough Children First’s Director of Operations and our Young Ambassadors. Our Young Ambassadors are care experienced young people who represent and share the views of other children and young people to help shape and improve services at Slough Children First.

Categories our children and young people were recognised for in the Smashing it Awards were:

  • Resilience Award
  • Personal Achievement Award
  • Talent and Creativity Award
  • Kindness & Community Award
    Young Influencer Award

The awards were hosted by Debbie Jones, Director of Children’s Services and Chief Executive of Slough Children First, Rashida Baig, Slough Children First’s Director of Operations and our Young Ambassadors. Our Young Ambassadors are care experienced young people who represent and share the views of other children and young people to help shape and improve services at Slough Children First.

With our vision being at the forefront of everything that we do, it was truly wonderful to know that our children and young people are thriving.

‘We see you, we appreciate you, and we are incredibly proud of you’, said Debbie. ‘Everything we do is centred around helping children and young people have the best possible outcomes in life’.

Thank you again to our staff who organised this event and the time and effort they put into this, as well as those who supported.

It was great to see so many people come together and brave the heat, and we hope everyone had a good time.
