Slough Children First’s Newly Qualified Social Workers pass their ASYE in May

May 14, 2025

Following their hard work over the past 12 months, we are pleased to announce that our latest cohort of Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW) passed their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) this month.

Speaking about their journey, Kiren Khuttan, Practice Lead, highlighted that this was a particularly unique cohort, as all four worked in Slough in different social care and teaching roles, prior to gaining their Social Work degrees.

Their passion and commitment to wanting to change the lives of children and families resulted in all of them working and studying whilst undertaking their social work degree, through the social work apprentice route and the Open University route.

Speaking at the event, Sue Butcher, Director of Children’s Services and Chief Executive at Slough Children First said:

“My biggest advice is to ask questions and don’t be scared to ask questions as everyone has a lot of knowledge to bring to the lives of children and young people in Slough. If you can, share, learn and keep doing it!”

We are incredibly proud of all of them and wish them all the best in their social work careers.

Well done to everyone who completed the year, we wish you all the best with the next step of your career!
