Children and adults social care services join forces to celebrate staff on World Social Work Day

March 22, 2024

On Tuesday, it was World Social Work Day and a ‘World Social Care’ staff event was held to celebrate all social care staff across children and adult services at Slough Children First and Slough Borough Council.

With the theme of World Social Work Day being ‘Buen Vivir – Shared Future for Transformative Change’, it was fitting that we held joint events between children and adults’ services as we want to continue to ‘march onwards and upwards’ together beyond this week, in working together and supporting our vulnerable children, young people and adults.

We were proud to recognise our staff and their contributions to supporting our vulnerable children and families of Slough over the past 12 months, despite difficult situations we manage every day.

Staff recognised teams and individuals (not just social workers), for their hard work and initiatives, including for ‘helping to improve day to day tools’, ‘ensuring young people are collaborated with and their voices are heard’, ‘utilising and transferring knowledge and skills gained with adults with learning difficulties and for ‘commitment and resilience to innovation of projects to better families of Slough’.

World Social Work Day reminded us that we are all part of a whole system working for children, young people and adults in Slough and that everyone is needed and valued in our efforts to provide them with effective services.
