Working with business to change lives

At Slough Children First we work to make the area’s most vulnerable young people Happy, Safe & Loved, Thriving.

We strive to improve young lives in a number of ways, from providing essential protection and stability to increasing self-esteem and building confidence. We are aspirational for our children, supporting their education and inspiring them for the future. Our partnerships are vital to this work, enabling us to offer more opportunities which really can change a young person’s life.

We receive great feedback from all our business partners, so why not become one too?

How can you help?

Every single business has the potential to get involved, with a number of exciting opportunities for you to help support and inspire our children, young people and care leavers (aged 18 – 25).

Education is everything

We are proud of the academic and practical achievements of our children. Enrichment opportunities, while they are still at school, are essential and give them a flying start towards a great career.

The world of work

We want to inspire and inform young people about the world of work. If you can offer any of the following, please get in touch:

  • Placements
  • Work experience
  • Apprenticeships (all levels)
  • Training days
  • Mentoring
  • One-off group visits

Foster friendly employers

Many children in Slough are in need of a safe and loving home but we simply don’t have enough foster carers. We want businesses to both spread the word and support employees who become foster carers. You can help by sharing our publicity materials and inviting us to tell your employees more.

Activity days

Our activity days enable children to make friends and have fun, while building confidence and new skills. These have included a visit to Pinewood Studios, days out to Longridge Activity Centre, trips to the cinema and to London. Perhaps your business could sponsor an activity or maybe you have facilities we could use.

Discounts for children and families

Could you provide a product or service at a discounted rate to our children, foster families and care leavers?

Other opportunities

We organise a number of appeals and special events for children, care leavers and foster families throughout the year. If your company can help in any way, for example with venues or catering, please get in touch.

You may also have suggestions for other ways in which you can work with us. We’re always open to new ideas!
