Newly qualified social workers celebrate completing ASYE

December 7, 2023

After successfully completing their Assessed and Supported Year in employment (ASYE), five Newly Qualified social Workers (NQSWS) at Slough Children First celebrated their success.

The ASYE is a national framework to promote and sustain best practice in social work and includes completing work independently and with the wider group, tailored support and putting together a portfolio.

“I’m so proud of our newly qualified social workers.” Kiren Khuttan, the Practice Lead said.

“They have all worked so hard to complete the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment. The NQSWS have embraced all the different learning opportunities within Slough Children First. In particular, they have all developed excellent direct work skills and ensure that the voice of the child is at the heart of their practice. The managers and the teams have also been instrumental in supporting our newly qualified social workers. The ASYE Graduation is an important milestone to acknowledge and celebrate their success. Well done!”

Speaking at the event, Sue Butcher –Director of Children’s Services and Chief Executive at Slough Children First said, “I hope that you continue to learn, flourish and grow”.

This is an important milestone for our latest cohort of NQSWS and we are proud of their achievement and dedication to see the programme through to the end.

We wish them the best in the next part of their journey as social workers with us and would like to thank everyone who has supported them.
