SUMMARY:LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week
DESCRIPTION:LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week (1-7 March) is a week dedicated to breaking down some of the perceived barriers to adoption and fostering. The week is organised by New Family Social – the UK network for LGBT adoptive and foster families. \n\n\n\nAcross the UK there is a desperate need for more adopters and foster careers to come forward and open up their homes to some of the country’s most vulnerable children and young people. Slough is no different. At Slough Children’s Services Trust we need more people to provide a loving\, nurturing home to our children and young people in Slough\, somewhere where they can be safe\, secure and successful. \n\n\n\nOne of the issues we face\, however\, is that many people have preconceived ideas of what makes the typical adopter and foster carer and who can or cannot become one. \n\n\n\nBeing LGBT+ is certainly no barrier. In fact\, last year\, 1 in 6 adoptions in England were to same-sex couples. Of course\, just to break down another barrier\, you don’t even need to be part of a couple – single adopters and foster carers are welcome too. \n\n\n\nTo become a foster carer or adopter\, all you need is the ability to look after a child\, so if you’ve got a room in your home and room in your heart then we’d love to hear from you. \n\n\n\nIf you feel inspired and you are interested in becoming a foster carer then please email foster@sloughchildrenfirst.co.uk\, phone 01753 690777 or text FOSTER to 60066. \n\n\n\nIf you are interested in finding out more about adoption then please email adopt@sloughchildrenfirst.co.uk or phone 01753 787628. \n\n\n\nAlternatively you can complete the form below. \n\n\n\nOne of our advisors would be happy to talk to you about fostering or adoption in more detail and perhaps start you on an exciting new journey. \n\n\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Telephone*Postcode*I am interested in:\n \n Adoption\n \n \n Fostering\n Requirements for fostering or adoption\n \n Please confirm you have a spare room\n \n \n Please confirm you are over 21\n \n \n Please confirm you have lived in the UK for 12 months or more\n Do you have any initial questions? How did you hear about Slough Children's Services Trust?*Please selectCitizen MagazineFamilies MagazineBerkshire Life MagazineSlough ObserverSlough ExpressGoogle AdSocial MediaSlough Town FC BannerSchool BannerQueensmere Shopping Centre Digital ScreenQueensmere Shopping Centre PosterBus Shelter AdvertPosterFriend/FamilyOtherIf other\, please specifyData Protection\n \n I consent to the details recorded above being stored by the Trust in line with its privacy policy

SUMMARY:Fostering Business Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:  \nAre you a foster friendly employer? You’re sure to have various parental policies but the chances are you don’t have one for staff who are foster carers or wish to become one. At a time when there is a record number of children in care and a national shortage of foster carers\, this is more important than ever. \nBusinesses like yours can really help make the difference\, showing themselves to be community-focussed and inclusive by becoming foster friendly. What’s more\, becoming foster friendly could also mean you expand your talent pool. With this in mind… \nSlough Children’s Services Trust would like to invite you to a foster friendly business breakfast\, on Thursday 21 November\, at Ipsen\, 190 Bath Road\, Slough\, SL1 3XE\, from 10-11.30am. You will hear from a working foster carer\, Ipsen’s Employee Relations Manager and SCST’s Chief Executive. We will also have a foster friendly  employee policy to share with you. \nPlease RSVP to comms@sloughchildrenfirst.co.uk  if you’re able to attend. We hope to see you there! \nPlease also see our ‘Working with business to change lives‘ page\, which tells you more about the work we do with Slough’s vulnerable children and how you can get involved as a local employer.
